WEBYSSL - Checklist for Ordering a certificate

Before you place an order for an SSL certificate you must make sure you have all the information required and have completed all the steps leading up to generating the "Certificate Signing Request" (CSR).

Once you have all the information required you can start running through the steps and place your order.

INFORMATION REQUIRED

Account setup on its own dedicate IP address on the server

You must have the domain already setup using a dedicated IP address, certificates will not work on shared IP addresses and the account must be configured before you can generate the CSR.

The following information is required when you generate the CSR.
We ask you to enter the information as well so that we can check it against the CSR to ensure your details are correct before we generate the SSL Certificate.

Host Name

The Host Name is the domain that you wish the certificate to be issued for, if you want to be able to secure https://www.domain.com then you must enter www.domain.com is this field. If on the other hand you only wanted the certificate to work with https://domain.com then enter domain.com, the certificate will only work with the domain that you enter.

Admin Email

The Admin Email address is the address that the CSR certificate was generated for and sent to.

Company Name

As it suggests this field is for the Company Name this information will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and so must be accurate.

Company Division

As it suggests this field is for the Company Division, if you are issuing this for the sales area you can enter Sales, if for the Headquarters then HQ and so on. Again this information will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and should be accurate.

Country Code

You need to enter the two character country code, for a full list of codes see Country Codes for CSR Generation this information will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and so must be accurate.

State

This is for the State that the company is registered in, this information will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and so must be accurate.

City

This is the city that the company is registered in, this information will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and so must be accurate.

Contact Email

This email address will become part of the company profile and will be embedded in the SSL Certificate and so must be accurate.

Password

The Password is the password used when you generated the CSR.

That's it for the CSR information so you can generate the CSR at that point.

Generate CSR

When you generate the CSR you will receive a copy via email from most control panels make sure you keep a copy of the email. The CSR itself will Start with -----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- then have all the information and then it will end with -----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- when you are asked for the CSR you must copy the whole thing including the start and end lines.

You will also get a second email in most cases with the RSA Private key you will need this information when you go to install your certificate later. It is also important if you ever move the domain to another server so keep the email in a safe place you may need it later. You may also store he RSA Private Key with us when you place your order, that way should you ever need to reinstall the certificate or you move hosts you will have all the information you need.

Now for all the extra information we will need when you enter your order.

First you will need to set up an account with us, done that then you will need to login (Go to the My Account Page).
When you go to the Order page your pricing for certificates will be displayed
To place your order click on the Buy Now button, that will take you to the order page where we will require the following information.
If you already have it then you can go ahead and place your order.

In addition to all the information listed above you will also need the following.

Server Type

The Server Type is only required if you are having problems with the SSL Certificate, if you are unsure please use 'Other'.

Certificate Signing Request (CSR)

This is the important piece of information you generated from the server, make sure you copy the whole thing and paste it in here.
On the order page we show you a demo of what it should look like, the contents of yours will be different of course but you get the idea.

RSA Private Key (optional)

This is the second email you recieved when you generated the CSR, make sure you copy the whole thing and paste it in here.
On the order page we show you a demo of what it should look like, the contents of yours will be different of course but you get the idea.
This step is optional but should you ever need to reinstall the certificate you will require both the RSA Private Key and the Certificate to complete the install.

SSL Certificate Administration Details

The information here is used by us for administration purposes only, when you signed up for an account you entered your contact details.
If you are going to manage the SSL Certificate and be responsible for it then just leave the details as they are. If you need to change them then do so.

Site Administrator Contact

The Site Administrator will be contacted if there are any questions about the company that arise for the issuing of the certificate.

The Technical Contact will be contacted if there are any questions about the generation or installation of the certificate. They will also be the primary contact come renewal time for the certificate

SSL Certificate Approval Details

The person who Approves the certificate order is deemed the person in control of the domain name, for them to receive the Authorisation email and sub sequentially go and approve the order. They will also be the contact who will be sent the email with the SSL Certificate. The email address specified must be associated with the whois information (ie. Registrant, Administrator, Technical or Billing contact or be one of the following.)

(substitute domain.com with the domain name requesting the SSL Certificate.)

SSL Certificate Authorisation

If you have all your information you can now place your Order.

ORDER SSL Certificate from WEBYSSL.com

So you login and place your order, enter all the information and click on Continue, what happens next.

You are asked to confirm all the information you entered, take particular notice of the domain that the certificate is being issued for to make sure that's the way you want it to work.
If you need to change anything click on the <<Back button.
If you are OK then click on the Submit button
Your details will be saved into our database and then you will be passed over to our secure payment page at PayPal.
If you have an account with paypal then you may select your method of payment.
If not then click on the Click Here button and you can pay by Credit Card.
Select your Credit Card Type.
Enter the Credit card details: Number, expiry date billing address etc....
Then click on the Continue Checkout button.
You will be asked to confirm your details, if everything is Ok then click on Pay.
Your payment will be processed and PayPal will generate a Recipt ID for you.
Click on the Return to Merchant button to be returned to the WEBYSSL.com site when you return the site will generate an invoice for you and update the status of the order in our system to acknowledge the payment. A copy of the invoice will also be sent via email to you.

We will now process your order and confirm all information, the next step for you will be when the Authorsing Email Address will recieve an email from RadidSSL.com advising them of the order and asking them to click on a link in the email to Authorise the provision of the certificate.

Authorise Certificate Order

The Authorising Email address entered as part of the application will get an email from RapidSSL.com Asking then to go to the RapidSSL.com website to Authorise the provision of the SSL certificate, they will need to click on the link and when they go to the site click on the I APPROVE button.

The SSL certificate will be generated and sent to the Authorising email address, we also get a copy sent to us. We will copy the certificate information into our datbase so if at any future time you need to reinstall it it will be available to you.
Last stage will be for you to install the certificate.

Install Certificate

You can now install the certificate for the domain and thats it until renewal time.
We will contact the Technical Contact 90 Days before the certificate is due to expire to arrange renewal.
